I whole heartedly agree agree with Garm re.the mythology perpetuated by the vegetarian sect.I errantly bought into the veggie life style in my quest for truth and knowledge and for 16 years ate a carefully balanced lacto vegetarian diet.I also experimented with the Macro-biotic diet of Micho Kushi for 2 years. I had fair health, was wirery, some what lean and strong for my size.In my early 40's,I began to experience what I thought was a premature decline in health, energy and conditioning.A close friend,Dr.Gregory Ellis (triple Phd.in exercise physiology,bio-chemistry and nutrition)convinced me of the falacies of vegetarianism and to start eating red meat.I tried and never looked back.I never felt so good! I got bigger, stronger, faster, more energetic and leaner. All the horrible evils of meat eating that my vegetarian friends warned me about did not happen. My digestion was improved, elimination was like clockwork, skin tone was better and I gained 15lbs. of muscle in 6 weeks! That's right, 15lbs. of pure muscle after years of staying about 158,I jumped to 175.More importantly my energy levels returned to that of my youth.Along with eating red meat almost every day,I eliminated all grains and grain products from my diet. The only carbs consumed came from cooked green vegetable, some cooked starchy vegetables and a small amount of raw fruits and leaf greens.Carbs made up less than 15% of my calories. One thing I immediately noticed was how stable my blood sugar was.I rarely was hungry between meals, could miss meals without fatigue, headaches or mood swings and no longer felt a slave to food and frequent feedings.I naturally settled into a two meal a day eating plan.I now have adopted a one meal eating plan similar to the warrior diet.In hindsight, becomming a vegetarian was one of the biggest mistakes of my life.Red meat is one of the greatest health elixors and anabolic agents there is.If you want solid proof of what I say is true, read the " Fat of the Land " by Vilhjalmur Stefansson,an artic explorer who lived on an exclusive meat diet for 8 years while living with the Eskimo. He outlines his diet in great detail and even squelched skeptics who didn't believe man could be robust and healthy on an all meat diet with no sources of vitamin c.He under went the famed Bellevue experiment in New York City and ate nothing but cooked meat for 2 years(along with another volunteer) under close scientific scrutiny. This was in the 1920,s.Steffenson shut everyone up with his amazing health.
The book is out of print, but I found it in the rare book section in the Phila. public library.I was allowed to photo copy it since it is no longer in print.Read it and see every arguement for vegetarianism exploded and exposed as the lies and half truths they are.
Yours in strength and health,
Steve Maxwell
